I agree, dont screw it up because people are cheap. It doesnt take much to buy a graphics card now that can play this game full bore.

About $100 it takes. Yeah.

The new maps deserve to be played on all high. They look amazing. Especially lashkaar Valley

Also. For anyone having major problems. ROLL BACK YOUR VIDEO DRIVERS. To like November or earlier from last year.

Fixed 90% of my problems. I still get some random CTD's but I always got those, before 0.9

All high in game settings, 8x AA. Then on my nvidia video cards settings. I have pretty much every bell and whistle on @ 1900 x 1200

I have a 2Gb RAM. I use drivers 175.16, and all high ingame, except for textures put in medium (for the sake of loading time, not performance). I run on 1680 x 1050. Oh, and 2x AA; 2x AF.

I dont understand what has happened to Fallujah that makes my framerate half of what it was in 0.87. A few updated curbs, a moved mainbase, and some new assets is what is new if I recall correctly. Wierd thing is, even if I am not seeing any of the new improvements on my screen the framerate is still half of what it used to be. Can anyone explain that? Maybe the new american soldier textures eats a lot of graphic memory, pushing the total above 512mb or something...

I dont mind turning down my graphics, but it is annoying to not understand why this is. It is not like the map looks much different or better in 0.9, it was always a great looking map.

Specs. (nothing overclocked)

Q6600

4G RAM

8800 GT 512 mb

Vista 64 bit

Settings
All highest except 4x AA. 1680x1050 resolution.

Ok, if it doesn't take much, you buy me a new one then.

I like games, but upgrading isn't the highest priority at the moment...

....somehow I don't seem to be having too many problems once I'm actually able to get into a server, usually CTD upon new map loading say 1 out of 3 times, although I haven't been keeping stats,

(I only have 1 CPU a P4, my MB has "HyperThreading" enabled....)

Or, maybe I'm the cause of all the lag....if that's true, sorry! :P

The game is 5 years old correct but all the weapons and models were made in modern standards with far higher view distances and draw ranges then vBF2, its unacceptable to demand that a 4 or 5 years old will run PR perfectly smooth on high graphics when we continue advancing graphically.

I have 3 computers in my house:
1)Q6600[2.6ghz quad core], 4gig ram and 4870 1gig ram.
2)E6300[1.86ghz dual core], 4gig ram and 8800GT 512 ram
3)Laptop - 2ghz dual core, 3gig ram and 8600GS 512 ram

All of them currently run PR fully maxxed out at 1440x900/1280x1024 and its playable on all of them, sure I get frame drops on heavy maps like Gaza and Fallujah to roughly 25-30 but its playable and if it really bothered me I would have reduced the AA to give me more FPS.

Yea currently there are performance issues and the team is trying its best to solve them so calm down
We all know what happen back in Battlefield 1942, when one of the latest Forgotten Hope mod patches was released, it had so good graphics that many pcs come to a crawl, but, it still had a very good option to lower the graphics, and still be very playable.

Right now that does not happen.
I tryed this on my brothers 3month old pc (800 euro upgrade on just main components), and it was also choppy, same as in my 4yr old 2000 euro machine.

So this isnt simply a problem of pure performance drops, its a problem with the way it was built. I know you guys did your best, but you have a big team, and all it takes is one person to mess up somewhere and cause all this problems, sometimes all it takes is a simple missing destructor or a condition running way more times than it actually need to.

I remember crashing a server with a simple PHP script where i forgot a simple condition when accessing the MySQL db, it was simple, yet, it crashed a very good machine.

At risk of sounding like i am teaching you how to do your job (i am not!) retrace your steps and see if theres really a need for some objects to be drawn so far away on some maps, or even behind buildings and such. I am not sure if you have this kind of control, since i never programmed any mod, but theres something you guys can do to help us out.

If anything, allow us with lower grade computers to manually turn down our view distance, i dont mind beeing sniped from 4km away or beeing blasted away, or what ever, if i can just play the game i will be happy.

Once again, thank you for your great job =) I love the new features, and i actually had a some minutes of fun when i learn i could travel the streets looking at the ground so i wouldnt actually crash, and managed to load quinlin after 7 timeouts.

The game is FREE! Use the money that you would normally have spent on buying the actuall game on hardware instead.

*edit*

I have a geforce 8200, a triple core processor, and 3gb of RAM - and I just spent LITERALLY an hour trying to get onto a game that worked, then I gave up.

Also the game is 5 years old, so a computer bought four years ago should be able to run it.
actually, come to think of it none of us have the "right" to play, it's more of a privilege really. Would you go to the makers of Crysis and complain to them that not everyone can afford high end computers? lets face it upgrading is no longer an option, its a requirement in today's society. it was hard for me too last year, but i just gave up on PR for half a year and saved up to get my 9800gt.

thing is alot of people get upgrades every year which i think is stupid. my plan is if i need an upgrade save up and buy the best i can get instead of making small leaps as it will cost a lot less in the long run. and of course it means it'll be a while longer till i need another upgrade.

the game BF2 is 5 years old, PR is not BF2, the current PR is only several days old.

agreed thats what i do, i dont spend money on other games anymore anyways so its a good place to put my money. it's a good investment for me too since i'm going into animation. theres usually a lot left over which is what i add into my spending/savings for my "life" <as herbiie says we have them, question is how well do you manage it.

Anything can be a weapon, anyone can be a threat. Never under estimate the combat ability of your opposition. He may seem weak and harmless now but even a dead man can carry a few pounds of explosives in his gut or deliver a decisive blow by rotting away in your water supply.
