Is that even supposed to be serious?isn't this photoshop?
Theres no real operational reason why artillery needs to be silenced, its near always behind the front line and with modern artillery having between 20-40k metric range the silenced part is going out of the window. |

As far as I can gather it's a "schalldaempfer", designed for when training with live ammunition, it dampens the noise so as not to disturb civilian population near the training area and reduces the occurrence of deafness to the crew. Only used in training and not practicable for use in war.

Apparently, lead is not good for you if ingested, at any velocity. And whilst I'm here, you're not a PC and Windows 7 wasn't your idea, live with it!!! |

As strima said, its a Schalld?mpfer (or simply suppressor
Its mainly used to not disturb residents and the nature reserve nearby. It also takes mesurements of the shots and noises. Dont know if it is still in use though. What i dont get is why they painted camouflage on it. Also: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
