SEAL's get P226's? But SEAL's are USSOCOM, I thought they used the Mk.23 :S
Who's using the Mk.23?? |

Mk.23s are HUGE (they're nearly as big as the Desert Eagle). They're also heavy (more than a kilo unloaded), use non-standard ammunition (.45 ACP) and have a lower capacity magazine than other modern pistols (only 12 rounds). It does what it was intended to do (allow rapid, accurate firing of +P .45 ACP loadings) but suffers the above defects for that performance. Its problem is that its exactly what its designed to be - an offensive handgun. If the choice comes down between an offensive handgun and a carbine for virtually any kind of op the carbine wins out every time. One is much better off with a lighter, easier handling pistol and more ammunition for ones primary weapon that with a big, heafty pistol like the Mk.23

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Two fantastic books that cover in depth BUD/S and SQT
The first one is all about BUD/s Amazon.com: The Warrior Elite: The Forging of SEAL Class 228 (9781400046959): Dick Couch: Books and the sequal (if you can call it that) goes over SQT Amazon.com: The Finishing School: Earning the Navy SEAL Trident (9781400046546): Dick Couch: Books |

Being in the position where you have to punch two guys in the face and then shoot two more, alone, will get you killed. Better not to be there in the first place. These are the least trained SEALs though. It doesn't seem too surprising that the SEALs are known for being seriously badass when this is what the new guys can do.

It's not actually a Blackhawk Serpa Holster. If you watch closely you'll see he isn't really fumbling, he is just moving the Strap forward on his holster

Hmm, after watching it in full screen, you might be right. I can't tell if there's a strap over that he's moving or not.

Looks like a level 3 blackhawk holster to me, when he does get it you can see him slide the thumb safe off.
