Troops replaceable?I'm not sure if you made this post in jest or not but troops are "people" and many of these "replaceable troops" that "train'em so they can fight and die" are actually people here on this forum and this very game, I don't think that suggesting that soldiers are zombies is acceptable on this forum or on a personal level.

ah, okay, you've misinterpereted. I'm not saying that it's ethical to kill ones own troops purposely, but what I am saying is that you're diluding yourself if the job of the Infantryman is not to engage in combat and possibly be killed. This has the potential for serious flame, so I'll just call it quits and give my apologies

Do you realize how expensive soldiers actually are? US. army, you pay for there basic, all the ammo they ever fire, all there equipment, all the schools they go to, you pay them a salary, you pay for them to live places, you pay for them to eat. Get the idea? not to mention you pay 400,000 for one to die.

For example, lets say I die, in a combat zone. I've had 3 years in, so lets average it out to 22,000 a year, that's 66,000. Now lets add my my 20,000 signing bonus, 86,000. Now lets say I have 3 mre's a day for a year (i know this doesn't happen but for sake of argument I'm using that price 21 bucks a day for food, $7665. Equipment issue about 4,000-4,500. Medical bills they pay for me every year, around 3000. Lets have them pay for my apartment for a year too, 700 a month.

Right now we are at over 100,000. We still add in the water I think/use the equipment that breaks so they give me new gear. All the batteries I go through and all that other useless stuff. Now lets go through all the at-4's, m67's, 5.56, 7.62, .50 and 40mm ammo I have used in my life, oh and that javelin I got to fire. Now my basic training and all of my other school I have gone to.

Now for the final bit, we are going to add in the 400,000 for my life insurance and the grief my loved ones have to go through, I say a hell fire is worth it.

hmm... how objective is their current method of collecting bodycounts / classifing civillians? I'm under the impression that the overexaggerated vietnam-era bodycounts might still be around...

I seriously doubt the body count exaggerations of the Vietnam era persist to this day -- some of those were multiple orders of magnitude higher than actual body counts, and were mainly civilians. I hope to God we have a better leash on our military at this point than that would suggest.
