T95 'Black Eagle' is apparently in the works. There are various pictures floating around the intertubes however most of them are fake, including a demonstration video which was just a T-72 with a mockup turret.

Basically from most pics its like a T90, but with a IDF Merkava-style turret, but still situated in the centre with the engine at the rear.

The coolest rumor I've heard so far is that in the very front of the tank, in front of the turret which has an autoloader, there are 3 touch-screen plasmas, each with the commander, driver and gunner sitting next to eachother.. The roles can be changed around and the commander has complete control incase one crew member dies or goes unconcious etc.

So theoretically the crew members can switch roles on the fly should they wish, but I highly doubt this system is even in development.

And apparently, the crew is completely seperate from any other components in the tank, in a sealed area, with no contact with the weapons systems, ammunition, or engine.

Sheath no sword;
Lower no shield;
Lack no vigilance.

note:the following info is compilations from different sites, news, forum opinions
T-90 variants for now, maybe object 195 for future
one of modernizations was shown yesterday featuring new welded turret with panoramic sight, weather analyzing equipment, thermal sights Catherine-FC and Relict ERA

this one is lacking IR jammers for Shtora, but detectors are there

there is also more radical modernization offer Burlak, it wasn't shown to the public yet, nor it was decided which one to use
supposed view of Burlak, designer is OKBTM, the one which made Black Eagle
auto-loader on the back is addition to one inside, not replacement

Black Eagle was a test bed, and 1-2 month ago it was said that none were produced as one separate tank, the one we've seen are dummies, but technologies used and experience will find their way on above mentioned Burlak, if it will be accepted

the T index is attached to accepted tanks, otherwise they are objects, BE is object 640

about "brand new WTFBBQ tank" there were different offers from design bureaus, object 195 from UKBTM, concept of 2-man tank by Spetsmash, Black Eagle by OKBTM,
object 292 by Spetsmash

object 292 by Spetsmash
was made in beginning of 90s, apart from loading mechanism, new turret, 152mm gun, T-80 chassis

Black Eagle by OKBTM
crew situated in hull and isolated from combat compartment, detachable auto-loader in the back of turret
BE prototype

object 195 from UKBTM
this one was decided to be new MBT for RF, it wasn't shown to public yet, there are some info though that it will use 152mm gun, completely new internal layout, crew isolated in hull in armour capsule
as for how it looks, there are only speculations about it like this

Russian tank and military engineering in general is quite brilliant, which is what one might expect when a state wastes 20 something % of GDP in useless military sector spending for 6-7 decades.

Yeah, but a Javelin can whip a tank at significant range. An IFV coupled with infantry can successfully engage and destroy any target they are faced with, and are significantly more mobile than an MBT. Now, tanks have their advantages, but they're not the top of the food chain.

Anyhow, the russians have been doing some pretty crazy things with tanks, can't wait to see what they come up with. Im sure it'll be a big change from Soviet era tanks, which were based on strength through numbers, rather than technology.

nothing is the top of food chain
ICBM and tactical nukes can pwn almost everything, but nobody will get rid of everything else except them, because system of all arms is what matters, not single type wunderwaffe
also cant say that IFVs are far more mobile than tanks, wheeled one's yes, but they are nowhere near to tanks in its armour and firepower capabilities

lets not start another VS discussion, but soviet tanks were on par with west and better somewhere till 80's, then with new tanks/ammo situation changed and with collapse of SU became even worth

now lets get back to future tanks

still passing tests and not accepted into service, not talking about mass production

Here is the wikipedia link for this not-yet existing tank; T-95 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

New MBT's are coming. Type 10, Japanese MBT. K2 Black Panther, South Korean. And the MİTÜP Altay from Turkey.

Does anyone know (or think they know) what advantages these new tanks should have over the older tanks? New optics? Better armour?
