As much as I loved the concept of the L86 LSW, its gonna end up like the LSW. Were gonna use it for a year or two, find it unimaginably ineffective, then throw it away and buy some new M249s.

I loved my M249, never wanted to give it up. I'm hoping that when I get back in soon they don't hand me one of those newer Para models.

This makes me happy I'm not joining the USMC (no offense), I just don't like the idea of this weapon.

I really doubt whetter an assault rifle based weapon can be issued as an automatic rifleman's role.
Because it makes sense that your support weapon is designed to be a support weapon from the ground up. Why base it on an assault rifle?????

I cant speculate on exactly when we will leave but it will be much before summer 2010. I see ninja is not to happy about this. Clearly he hasn't had experience with Marine corps SAWs. They are shit. As i said i would not bother me one bit if they gave us new SAWs, but this new weapon is better than nothing.
