Dragon Skin body armor gains piezoelectric sensors, keeps bullet-stopping abilities -- Engadget
they apply piezoelectric sensors, to measure the severity of the impact and create a bit of electricity to transfer the data to some sort of HUD/PDA. This will make all the games with no health bar unrealistic again |

...or melt. Unless they fixed that.

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

Or freeze. Which they also didn't fix.
Why don't they add a useful feature? Like stopping bullets outside of a lab perhaps? |

Or delaminate and fall apart, which they've not fixed yet.

I'm not sure how practical this "invention" is..it seems more like a gadget to attract attention...

Why are they wasting money building sensors when they know the DoD won't accept it unless they completely overhaul it?

The DOD doesn't have to accept this. Only Congress does.

I thought the Defence Department and Army higher ups weren't happy with it?

No one is going to accept body armor that does nothing to prevent bullet penetration when exposed to temperatures that are often reached in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. This little gimmick is not going to get it any closer to a military contract. Congress doesn't like when CEOs of military contracting companies lie to their faces, I doubt they'll give Pinnacle another chance.
