This topic reminded me of a comment my good female friend made the other day whilst watching the TV show 'Future Weapons' with us. They were demo'ing the new body armour to which she asks "Is it made out of real dragon skin? Wait.. dragons aren't real are they..."

Well I don't know about you all, but I've handled dragon skin and it's quite a manageable weight for a trained individual. And to be fair many of the concerns raised about its climate durability came from politically invested sectors of the military. It was banned because it represented a threat to current buyers in the military bureaucracy, not because it was ineffective.
