On OP's request I'll bump this thread.

USMCMIDN, in attachment there is a MS Excel file where I collected info about Russian GOST for body armor, US NIJ and UK PSDN ballistic tests so you could compare them and figure out what armor class Russian body armor have. There is no direct connection between these standards so I can't say something like "6Bx body armor is II US NIJ armor type" or "... III US NIJ armor type", I leave it for your consideration, however manufacturer claims that 6B12-1 is NIJ IV class body armor.

Here exact info about 6B11-2 and 6B12-2 infantry body armor

6B11-2

Armor level - II (RF MoD requirements)
Overall armor resists to:
- 9mm Makarov pistol (PM) bullets from 5 m distance;
- standard shell splinter (∅ 6,3 mm, 1.03 g) , V50≥540 m/s;

Enhanced part of armor resists to:
- 7.62mm pistol bullets for TT-34 and 9mm bullets to PMM from 5 m distance;

Protected area:
- Enhanced: 15,36…18,1 sqr.dm;
- Overall: 48,2…54,6 sqr.dm.

Weight - 4,0...4,3 ± 0,6 kg.

6B12-2

Armor level - III (RF MoD requirements)
Overall armor resists to:
- 9mm PM pistol bullets from 5 m;
- shell splinter 1,03 g ,V50≥540 m/s;

Enhanced part of armor resists to:
- 7.62mm LPS bullets to SVD rifle from 100 m distance;
- 5.56mm M193 bullets to M16A1 from 50 m distance;
- 7.62mm PS-43 bullets to АКМ from 50 m distance.

Protected area:
- Enhanced: 15,36…18,1 sqr.dm;
- Overall: 48,2…54,6 sqr.dm.

Weight - 7,2...7,9 ± 0,7 kg.

Something tells me this was one of the first things to be sold after supplies stopped coming to Soviet forces in Afghanistan. I never remember reading about body armor but I remember a story from The Great Gamble about soldiers sitting on their helmet in transport aircraft to protect their junk.

i think there is a point of blaming those who think that soldier can do fine without those things, kleptocrats with billions are only an excuse. its all about will of the state and honour of those who should serve it. i dont see how all this scum, especially with family connections, fed by gazprom would respect the state, at least they dont have to steal a lot like if some new asshole came to their place. those joke 'repressions' when they put one official to other, less profitable place, instead of putting him to jail where he belongs to dont seem to help.
