I haven't heard of an actual silo launch test in the US for a while, so it might be an older series of photos. Vandenberg AFB (California) is the only place I know of where they have a test silo.

Yes, I'm not sure I understand, either. If you're asking if there really is such a thing, yes, we used to have ICBMs in underground silos back during the Cold War. I can only speak for the US, so the only functional ones I know we have are on Vandenberg, and they house interceptor missiles for use in tests.

Silos aren't by definition underground, as the name comes from the cylindrical buildings used to house grain.

well, what i meant with if this was fake was if there was actually a rocket taking off from that silo. or if the rocket was just shopped on top

because i'm wondering where on earth is a military missile launch photograhped by bystanders and then published on the web??

They look real, I mean look at the light from the missile onto the ground, once the rockets ignite there is a visible difference of thee shade of the grass on the ground. So either its real or the guy who shopped this is not half bad at it.
