I did read somewhere that they are going to be converting our M16s as well as putting out more M4s. They did it to the SAW so i dont see why the same couldnt be done to the M16. At least these are the rumors going around.

Hey Iron, what's the general consensus oh the IAW (Infantry Assault Weapon)? It's supposed to replace the SAW isnt it? (i know.. future weapons....)

It is supposed to replace one out of every four SAWs in service today, last I heard. The SAW won't be phased out completely, of course.

Last i heard there are still 4 weapon systems in the pipeline so IDK but for the most part we are happy to get rid of the old SAWs(for reliability reasons) but i feel that a lot of Marines would rather them just make a shit load of new SAWs cause that 200 round drum is a big plus.

From what i understand all grunt units will be replacing the SAW completely and all of the SAWs will be going to P.O.G units.

They have pretty much done this to all our M249 SAWs too.

I've heard the SAW is a good gun, just there are so many that are old and had to be repaired with spot welders and stuff. Amirite?
