I only count two per wing. Note that I just grabbed this one off Google real quick. I have a folder with 6,232 reference photos of various models of the Mi-24.

i think its harder to find 2 per wing, than 3, but it usually carries only 2 pylons
btw, on last pic 30mm gun ГШ-30К(GSh-30K)

The 2 inner pylons carry unguided weaponary such as 80mm missles 23mm double gunpods. The outer pylons carry guided armament AT-8 spiral or 9M144 kokon missles. The hind can carry loads of stuff at the same time although i must agree that they seem to use only 2 per side most often, although thats not always the case.

The internet makes you stupid.

The long wings made it extremely hard to hover the hind, as the fins disrupted the downflow, and the aircraft had a tendancy to roll excessively during steep turns. However the wings made the aircraft fly almost like a plane at high speeds. This difference in design led to totally different techniques to the western counterparts, as the pilots would fly fast, and use diving runs to attack, rather than hovering or loitering as we have seen from western aircraft.

So, perhaps with newer more powerful engines they've shortened the wings?

So back then the hind was outgunning the cobra.

Using USPU-24 turret with YakB-12,7 machine gun was forced decision. In a time of development there were no proper helicopter aiming systems and turrets for weapons with higher caliber rounds. Problems in this area were common for all Soviet industry, they were caused by Cold War and isolation.

Creator of Mi-24, Mikhail Mil always insisted on making assault helicopter more serious business with 23mm or 30mm autocannon, but military doctrine and problems made their part and Russians had what they had. Unfortunately, Mil died before Mi-24VM and Mi-35M with dual 23mm autocannons saw their first daylight.

This television has a poison on it's breath
This counter-culture of both wicked lies and death
It makes my eyes bleed every time I turn around
How will they all feel when I bring them to the ground?
