Slab-sided...that's just a big fat broadside of a barn asking to be hit with RPGs. The BMP3 may be cramped, but it has a very low profile, which adds to its protection. I'd say the BMP is more IFV than APC, while this is more APC with some (admittedly hefty) IFV ability. Wouldn't want to be in one that's struck with an RPG though.

yes a lot of middle eastern countrys have M113's which means turkey and russian can bennefit from this a lot and a cheaper way of affording to get IFV apc's

Turkey are members of NATO and so are rather unlikley to be in the MEC.

Interesting concept none the less.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

But NATO isnt

Also note that, the main reason for these kind of joint developments with Russia/China/Iran/etc. is for one purpose, becoming less dependant on foreign equipment,or distrubuting the dependancy.

Thats why Turkey chose Eurocpter as future gunship(for some 50+50 to be purchased within 5 years iirc) instead of Ertogan(a mi-24 Hind version for Turkey)/Cobra z/Apache.

The most important aspect of the Eurocopter deal was sharing know-how,licence to build your own variants and selling them + open source code.

I think the same deal goes for this one and similair joint stuff...
