I think that might be the new assault vest with MOLLE on It. Not sure. But you can see Osprey armour under the assault vest.

Those guys aren't even british. Since when did DPM look like that, also as far as im aware the british army dont use ballistics glasses OR luminous union jack patches.

That's a muted union jack. I dunno about the glasses, but the guy in the foreground appears to be wearing what I think is the new desert DPM. The two in the background are both in old style dessies.

Looks like there are creases where the RSM likes them, BUT I don't know of any issue backpacks/webbing with black shoulder straps...that said I'm by no means an expert.

Its the new kit being introduced as part of FIST

looky here

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Pretty cool stuff, But I guess the 2008 picture is showing off all the new stuff that isn't given to any1 but guys going on tour now, but will eventually be general issue.

I bet the americans and our other allies have changed alot as well

EDIT- this is from a BBC report on the event where this stuff was being demonstrated
BBC NEWS | UK | The Army kit of the future

the addition there is that they show off "the soldier of the future" who looks very tacticool

shame the interviewer clearly had no idea what anything was
I got this picture for you, the guy on the left is the "future" dunno how much about him is PR and how much is actually planned

LOL the new DPM then fails.

Were just robbing shit from the yanks. First ballistics goggles and then all this fancy rail bollocks.

Also why are they wearing green DPM body armour. I thought camouflage was to stop you sticking out like a soar thumb. Note: I know there is a green zone but by no means will a body vest help if your wearing desert stuff.

Pretty sure those are IR flags they are wearing. The point of them is if the soldier is painted at night by an IR laser, it reflects the crap out of the laser. This means to someone looking through a pair of NOD's it would be like shining a normal visible green laser at a mirror in the same conditions. It's to help with Friend or Foe ID.
