Modern military personel should have been "tagged" a long time ago. Its the most logical way to go.
Just gotta make sure the ennemy never find these intel. |

Yeah, sorry. Those comments arent about the current war, anti america or anything. The game focuses a lot of the privatization of the military into PMCs and how war has become the largest money making strategy of the modern world... :P Sorry for any confusion...
In that world, all soldiers, weaponry, and equipment are ID tagged and can be turned off by those in ultimate control. |

Tagging personnel and equipment is something more serious than a lot of civilians understand. You wouldn't believe how many weapons turned up "missing" on a US Army Post each day. Or how many full rucksacks went missing off the back of a truck. I think the problem is more than just with tracking soldiers in a live combat zone, but full-time tracking of all their equipment too.
Of course such a system could only be used if it was 100% impossible for non-allied units to use the same tracking devices against us. It would be like having LoJack installed on every rifle. Back in my Army days we even had an ATF bust where a guy would drive onto our post during the afternoon and act like he was touring the museum and around lunch time he would cruise past the mess halls looking for unattended weapons. If he found any he'd scoop em up and sell them on the black market, and our military weapons were then being used against us elsewhere. You might ask how weapons were left unattended on an Army post? About 10 years or so ago US Army posts were generally "Open Post", meaning anyone could drive on without being stopped at a checkpoint. Soldiers going through BRM training on a training post would be required to take their weapons to the chow hall, but not allowed to bring them inside. So what they would do is "triangle" the weapons in lines out in the parking lot and leave 1-2 soldiers out there to wait and watch the weapons. Several times those recruits would leave the weapons behind and go into the chow hall because they got impatient waiting for their relief to come back, and approximately 60-80 M16A2's were left unattended in a mess hall parking lot. Although the time frame that those weapons were left unattended was small, it was sometimes enough for these criminals to snatch up a few. If those weapons had tracking devices installed, I doubt those weapons would have made it far and most likely would have never been used to kill our own people. The chances for this happening now is very slim, but I would still like to see something done to track our government property. |

Seeing what the abduction of a small number of Israëli troops led to, I can see this being very useful in the kind of wars currently being fought.
Also, if they could figure out a way to make this data show up for CAS pilots/gunners, that could really help with friendly fire incidents. |
