Re: ACOG vs SUSAT
Keep discussing the merits of the ACOG in comparison to the SUSAT and this thread remains open. Any US/UK discussion will result in lockage and possibly an infraction.

Re: ACOG vs SUSAT
it does look kind of wierd tbh i dont like it personally and i think also money should be spent elsewhere but if the MoD thinks this is helpfull then so be it not much we can do. I think it should be spent getting better armour for some of the lighter vehicles.

Re: ACOG vs SUSAT
Agreed, can we keep it to the differences between the two sights rather than which we prefer?

Re: ACOG vs SUSAT
no, that earlier pic was an official picture, it was taken from the MoD's Equipment magazine DESIDER. The front rails are part of the upgrade.
The Catilever is there because it allows you to retain the dove tail rail the SUSAT requires, and also use the picatinny the more modern/commercial sights use. The reason for the gap would be obvious I thought? I'll let a picture explain: ![]() The red outline shows an L22A2 (Only needed the SUSAT really, so it will do for the purposes of this demonstration). You can see that the cantilever raises the ACOG to the required eye position level. If it was flush with the top of the weapon, no squaddie would be able to do jack with it. |

Re: ACOG vs SUSAT
lolz
anyway, i thought the SUSAT was fine and would last a lot longer, i mean the only problem i heard about it was it steamed up in jungle enviroments, thats why most of the time in that enviroment the army uses ironsights |

Re: ACOG vs SUSAT
In a jungle envionment, wouldn't you be at too close a range for scopes anyway?
