It's an M16A1, if it's an M16 at all. Since that guy's Asian it might be one of the Eastern-made knock-offs.

looks like the Norinco CQ rifle, an M16a1 clone made for export. about 500 were sold to the US in the 1980s before colt got all pissy about it.

Most probably, its not an A1, as it has a step cut in the barrel

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

yes it is a clone of a M16A1, but the Norinco CQ i know, are technicaly M16A1 but they usually have the A2 handguard, so i don't think it is a CQ
