Wink What do you think of German engineering

Feel free to shout out what you think about it. Don't compare it to other countries, otherwise it'll be locked.

you can say things like:
I like it

or negatively:

I hate german engineering, the stuff they do is ugly.

One word: Practical.

Leopard tanks are made so that if parts of the engine malfunction you can just pull out a big hunk of it, replace it with another hunk, and while the tank is back rolling around you can fix the buggered up bits on a work bench.

Another word(s): far seeing.

Whether you want to talk about the design for the world's first assault rifle that is still being produced today (by proxy in the AK) or the Machinegun which is still in service with the Deutsches Heer more than 60 years later, you can be sure that Germans have an eye for design.

A last word: Modern

Nearly everything that drove the technological boom of the post WW2 era was stolen from Germany in the form of documents, designs, models, or scientists.

Those Germans eh?

The Nazis may have been Nazis, but they did have the best civil and military engineering the world had ever known (for a time). Really, given the chances and the technology they had, they could have conquered Europe pretty easily if it wasn't for their bad leadership.

Anyway, this is what I think of German engineering (from 1900 on):
Reliability: Insane
Efficiency: Excellent
Aesthetics: depends on the product, usually minimalist

I got the impression that US designers were having a hand is designing the exterior of certain German Cars, hence subtly resulting in their exteriors having a more similarities to US cars than they did 10 years ago. Thus making them looking bludy ugly.

So if i see any apparently "German designs" that look bad, i know whos to blame, and it aint the Germans!

1 Grab a SAW
2 Find the highest hill/building around a flag
3 Move there, stay there, Spot, call out, attack marker... SAW!
4 For god sake go from high ground to high ground! NOT bottom of a valley to open field to gully!
