L96 and L115A3 don't have the range of Javelin - 1200m compared to 2500m and more got Jav (which can hit the majority of sniper positions and mortor base plate locations which the snipers can't touch with their systems). Under cover, an enemy sniper tends to be impossible to counter-snipe. Lock onto his cover and he's exposed. This can then be followed up with another missile or leaves our snipers free to engage effectively. That's why Javelin gunners are called long range snipers

BTW, an L110 is a Land Rover...you want us to run them over??

Bob pretty much got it with how it works. Can't go into any more detail for obvious reasons.

* Maximum range: 6800 m

* Unit replacement cost: $12,050.00 US

why not use this plus an explosive tipped bullet? :P then is got a range of 6800m

That'll be due to you needing to take the "Maximum effective range", which is 1800m into account, instead of the max range seeing as Jav and assorted sniper rifles are all precision weapons.

The military uses for an M82 even to provide harassing fire at that distance is pointless. That's a Fire Support Group's tasking, not a sniper's, with the use of GPMG/BMG map predicted fire and Mortars.

Well, think about it. You have a sure chance of hitting the target beyond the max range of the M82, if youre using the javelin. If you use the M82 and you miss, the sniper will know someone has discovered him and will take appropriate action. But if a jevelin locks on and uses top-down to smash into his fortification/hide; not only will he be eliminated but so will his fortification. No other infantryman/sniper will be able to use his spot because it has been utterly destroyed. With the M82 even if you get the kill, the location will still be a viable firing position because all it has are a few hole in the walls. Plus, if you think about it, its not like youre spending your own money on the missiles

BTW Javelin cost 80 000U$D... lol.
