I meant the way you reload the weapon though. The magazine goes on top, not behind the trigger and under the buttstock/upper receiver area like a conventional bullpup. P90 is pretty much unique.

I don't see how that on it's own can make good groupings impossible. Just means you can't pop off shot after shot really quickly like semi auto. The ironsights I never really liked the look of (only ever used a SUSAT for shooting) but other than that I see no problem in cocking then aiming; it's no different from shooting a sniper rifle.

its the way you cock the rifle it makes you move position alltogether basically and you loose where the rifle was pointing with a bolt action rifle it is quite easy to not move the rifle to much.

it is hard to maintain the marksman ship principles when using the A1GP rifle

Re: Rifles of the future?

pah the GP is fine, never get any blockages or misfeeds, and i can get a very good grouping, just have to learn to reload completly differntly to anything else, only problem with it is after the first 2 1/2 mags on rapid fire you arm is a bit nackered,

only trouble ive ever had with the GP was on 1 sodding freezing night lieing in ambush, when the ambush was set off all the oil on everyones weapons had been washed off by the drizzle and half frozen to on the slider, at which point only the older cadets such as myself could fire, as we had the strenght to overcome this, unfortunately i ripped off the cocking handle that night... my sgt major forgot to tell me he had given me the rifle with the bodge jobbed cocking handle it had a safety pin instead of a normal pin holding it to the slider arm...

a trick that my sgt majors mate taught us, if unable to cock the rifle due to lack of oil etc, just pull back on the black slider rather than the handle, SOOOOOO much easier as you dont have to the handle against itself,

but yer the GP A2's are going to be intersting, none of the new cadets have to get there poor little arms tired etc, same as when my CCF replaced its 58 pattern webbing, gah the *sarcastic* FUN *sarcastic* memories of that stuff, just falling apart at every step, now none of the little ones have to go through the trouble that us older cadets had to go through, yer call me a mean bastard if you want but it would teach them some valuable lessons instead of being all arrogant

but probably wont get to use the new GP as im usually dumped with an LSW, but meh full auto > semi auto

Rails are fine in moderation. When a weapon is covered in them simply for the sake of being covered in them it gets silly.

Anyway, the L85 is already railed, only it uses a 19mm dove tail rail instead of the 20mm M1913.

And if you want to mount anything on a rail, as far as I'm concerned, Weaver rails are the only way to go.

The mag twists them round through 90 degrees as they enter the weapon.

The G11 did the same thing (though the rounds were verticle in the magazine as opposed to horizontal.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Afraid not, they are not going to replacing the GP, merely supplementing it.

actually my sgt major said hes getting the new Gp's specially for the new cadets, and selling off all our GP's to another CCF/ACF group but he wont get any permanent LSW's, instead we keep having to borrow them off the local UOTC
