Not forgetting a lot will be fitted out in the ambulance role and you can't put a price on a life.

I think it's because of the upcoming EU ban on lead-based ammunition. Apparently, lead is not good for you if ingested, at any velocity.

And whilst I'm here, you're not a PC and Windows 7 wasn't your idea, live with it!!!

how many casualties (stretcher cases, not walking wounded) can fit in it?

I found a more accurate ( or better worded ) article here.
Force Protection, Inc. - In the News The 150 million obviously covers all the armoured vehicle purchases.
So they actually cost closer to £300 000 a pop, which is a bit more like it!
And guys - you may love the Army and everything, but you dont have to blindly support everything they do - ( ie defend them when it looked like these cost £ 1 million each. )

Its not blind support. Those vehicles have saved a lot of lives and will continue to do so. That alone gets my vote.

TBH I'm happy knowing my taxes are going on this, instead of another payrise to politicians for sitting on their backsides and riding their secretaries/buying up houses/and so on. Not least because I may end up in one...

I think you misunderstand me - I totally support buying these. I just thought it was a rip off when it looked like they cost £ 1 million each - others seemed to disagree!
The fact the Army is still using landys on the frontline is a joke - unfortunately its taken the death of many soldiers to change things.

Would you rather walk? Everyone knows .50cal scares the baddie's bullets away.

So the question you have to ask yourself is;

g0t .50cal?

In some situations, yes I would rather walk. I realise the benefits of the Landrovers agility and light weight, but giving soldiers armoured transport is a no brainer to me. I know people say its an insurgency, and so different tactics have been required, but even if we were fighting a conventional army, a near miss with a shell would cause serious damage to a Landrover and its occupants.

Related video, I do worry about these things turning over, a few guys have been killed in such incidents in afghanistan (land rovers IIRC though)

Yes, yes it would. But then in your scenario, why the hell is an unarmoued landrover engaging a tank or artillery?

Send the CR2 out to deal with the tanks-firing-shells-at-landrover and use jets and counter-artillery fire-control radar linked to MLRS or your own artillery to deal with the artillery-firing-shells-at-landrover.
