War is a fundamental requirement of technological growth. As needs arise, technology is invented to meet them. Without war, technology would stagnate, and rate of invention would slow to a crawl.

Belief that humans could live in complete peace is naieve, humans are a very violent species and we thrive on combat. We may have times of relative peace, but as long as there are humans there will be war.
