Rocket attacks
As the most common attacks against bases in the ME are described by the media as 'rocket attacks', what sort of munitions are the insurgents using?
It may just be my lack of knowledge, but I can't imagine RPG's really being effective at 5-6 miles, but anything bigger would be hard to conceal/smuggle in the cities. |

Katyushas, some old BM-21s I though were the standard "fire, forget, get vaped by UAV" order of the day.

Actually, I've read a report about insurgents lobbing RPG's into US bases around Baghdad, Hopefully I could fine it
Yeah, they have been reported towing old Soviet style Multiple Launch Rocket pods and shooting them off in busy markets and what not |

They try to attack our bases like this:
Hardly effective as you can see. Some years ago i was watchign a documentary on the Russian invasion of Afghanistan in the 80's The Mujahedeen was using bare rockets fixed on some rocks hotwired by a car battery. | |||

My sister's friend was a reporter at the beginning of the war in Afghanistan, and they were being hit by katyushas at some large US base (can't remember which one anymore). I doubt the taliban has many of these left, but 120mm rockets shouldn't be much of a surprise.

Well, I saw a vid, where insurgents used simple mortar. My guess would be that they us whatever they can get. If they wouldn't have any rockets, inspite of that they would use rocks instead...
