Whats new with the IAR?

Does anybody have any news on the IAR program to replace the M249 SAW.

Is it true that it can carry a 100 round drum?

Before you guys start chewing my ass off because I watched it on future weapons, lets get one thing straight. I hate that show future weapons, they will make any weapon look good even though it isn't. I thought that weapon is a joke with only 30 round mags. 100 round mags is a little better but not as good as the 200 round belts.

Future Weapons is a shitty show and the host sucks.

Don't you just hate it when some 14 year old kid starts talking about some new weapon they saw on future weapons? Just because you see it on future weapons does not make it true.

And thats why I want to see if anyone has any news on the IAR if it is true.

Hey dude, I don't mean to be a backseat moderator, but we all had a nice long discussion on this thing a few weeks ago, just skip to the 3rd page:

From what I understand it's just basically a gas piston operated M4 with a heavier barrel that can fire from an open or closed bolt. I believe it can can a Beta-C mag if that's what you are referring to by the 100 round drum.

As pointed out, posted before, the IAR is planned to be in use, Beta-C mags don't work.
