Apache Longbow / UAV interoperability
Not really a "gee-whiz" new weapon system like what is usually discussed here, but I thought it was really interesting.

Seems like the logical next step. As far as maximizing the Apache's abilities it is a definite improvement. Scouting with a much smaller, stealthier, airframe that doesn't put anyone in danger. Good sense to me.

Well, it speaks to the fact that the Kiowa is a 30+ year old airframe. It is being replaced with the similar ARH-70 Arapaho. Scout helicopters aren't going away. More eyes in the sky relaying info to the grunts and fire support platforms is always good.

Well we have binned the Gazelle too, I suppose the reason why is because the Lynx/Future Lynx is better and more economical in the long term.

Gazelle also = 30 year old airframe. Old crap needs replacing, that's life. This is just army boys playing with their toys, and finding something highly useful to do with them.

Soon it will be UAV passes info to command, who then fire a guided weapon from long range. Or the UAV will be able to prosecute the attack (which is already being used). Skynet.
