FOXNews.com - Navy Tests High-Powered Electromagnetic Railgun - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News

The projectile just looks awsome.

"They can also be used to provide public service messages: stay away from munitions; units are coming through; stay off the streets because the armored vehicles are dangerous.”

How much damage will be inflicted to the rails after a launch like that? Have they figured out a reliable way to preserve the rails?

Why, did your own trials of a similar system show an intolerable degree of reduction in the structural integrety of the rails after prolonged firing, as a result of significant Delta over the T/M^X fractal friction multiplyers?

Mine did.

That looked sweet Would be cool if they really could have these things deployed by 2020, one step closer to science-fiction.

I thought it was borderline canceled too, due to the unexceptable wear on the rail as mentioned above.
