Its not just a torch, its also an I/R beam as well and in conjunction with a monicle on his helmet illuminates targets for him in the dark. Hes wearing it in the daytime as you can still practice with I/R in daylight. IIRC it has a laser too which all has to be zeroed to the firer.

Yep, flashlight. As has been said, useful during FISH & CHIPS, where you can simply point the flashlight beam at someone and pull the trigger, and the rounds will go where the light goes. Done by the SAS a lot.

It is also good for posing for pics.

Asking you to push his girlfriend down the stairs. Well, thats just not on.
Tell him to man up and if he wants an abortion done on the cheap he'll have to do it himself.

HAHA,

I read that this is supposedly what the SA80 upgrade including all that ACOG stuff is

2 x Viper2+F thermal sights
2 x TAM-14 TI HMNVGs
4 x ACOG day sights
2 x Laser Range Finders - one for the Grenadier, one for the fire team commander
The Grenadier now gets a holographic sight for his 40mm
All sights, day or night, for 5.56mm will have a red dot CQB sight

Is all that in full flow, or yet to happen?

EDIT:

Oooh look what I found

Hussar - why in that first pic is the kneeling guy holding up a bagpuss towel?!

I may be wrong but that might have been the guy who called his cat Bagpuss, which is blasphemous to children of the 70s everywhere.

Too far?

We had a Troop who named themselves after Bagpuss as they slept at every opportunity. They had T Shirts made with a picture os Bagpuss in a sleeping bag smoking a cigarette, and later, a matching flag.

Another Troop stole their flag and held it to ransom (hence the guy at gunpoint) for 5 crates of fizzy drinks. They published that photo in the Squadron magazine with their silly demands
