H&K's MP2000 program

I've recently just found out about this project of H&K that aimed to improve the MP5 series. However information is sorely lacking on it.

What I know so far:

program was originally started in late 1980s, then dropped due to apparent hardness of improving upon the already refined H&K MP5 submachine gun.

Program received new wind recently.

Prototype models showed a mixture of features and parts that either A) were later used in the H&K UMP or B) were taken from the H&K UMP to be utilized on the MP2000 program.

------- so that's it really, not to many sources on the internet that offer anything more then speculation and some mockup photos.

I'm well aware that there have been numerous MP5 improvement programs, some of which ultimately ended up being used in designing the UMP, however this one has apparently recently been restarted, so I'm interested as if to anyone else has information about this?

which language?
i could only find some information on hkpro and wiki

this is the hkpro link: HKPRO:  The MP2000

this is the wiki entry:

Quote:
The Heckler & Koch MP2000 was an attempt to improve the MP5 series. Prototypes of the gun showed similarities to the UMP. An interesting feature of this gun was that it featured a silencing system which prevented the bullet from reaching supersonic speeds by venting some of the propellant gases. The gas vent hole could be closed in order to achieve normal bullet velocities.
there is no information anywhere on the net that the programm gets renewed, would have made me wonder anyway, because they are probably keener on sellin the fairly new mp 7 pdw instead of further developing the old mp5
