what a fucking joke, 30 round magazines kinda destroy the idea of having a support gun. you only have suppresion fire for a few seconds in a row before you need to change mag, so you need to carry way more magazines.

BLANK AMMUNITION SHOWED A VERY HIGH STOPPAGE RATE.
I imagine it would, simply because the magazine design doesn't deal well unless there is a force keeping the rounds aligned. With blanks there's a lot of space to wiggle. I'm sure that it would do better feeding live rounds, but I see that it is certain that the C-Mag does not effectively do its job well enough for it to be useful.

The reason I stated in my other post that I have few jams is because I fire quite slowly at the range. At times I have used full-auto, but that is normally at the end of the day when you realise you have more rounds left over than you do have time before range shutdown. At that point, jammed mags aren't a concern.

When I have fired rapidly, either in automatic or rapid semi, the C-Mag's I have used jammed about 70% of the time. It might be after 20-30 rounds, maybe after 50 rounds, or sometimes after 5-6 rounds. But the fact they do jam often is true. There was another style of drum that I tried some time ago, it held 90 rounds and the drum section was only to one side, not split like this model. The feed mechanism just isn't stable enough for rapid fire.

Come to think of it, there have been a few times that I can recall rounds double-feeding, or even turning angle inside the feed system. These are fine for slow fire on the lanes where magazine reloading time will be minimized, but for any sort of rapid fire or hard use would make them combat ineffective.

30 round mags are a joke.

The Pentagon will receive a shit load of complaints from the troops if they replace the SAW with this peace of crap, manly because the 30 round mags don't provide enough suppressive fire which as a matter of fact is the very reason why the military went for the SAW. But they never learn and now they will have the learn the hard way all over again.

We would be no worse off having a BAR with a 20 round clip.

The military would ether drop this weapon or retire it 5 years of service.

What I think is going to happen is it is going to be used with an as of yet un-devopled 45-50 rounds STANAG mag and not totally replace the SAW, but have one in each squad or fireteam or something.
