HK416 - New Generation Turkish Infantry Rifle

The Turkish Minister of Defence H.E. Vecdi Gonul, has unveiled Turkey's choice of new rifle to replace the G3:

MKE (Turkish Weapon Producer) and Heckler & Koch made an agreement that HK416-417 will produce under name of "Mehmetзik-1" and equip to Turkish army.

The Mehmetçik-1 designed and manufactured by MKEK of Turkey is similar in design to the Hk-416, but with added features such as laser target illumination and the use of a different metal, inter alia.

If colt would just make a short stroke piston upper receiver for the M4 then that would fix a good majority of the problems with the M4 and there wouldn't be any more hype about the uber reliable 416.

Thing is sexy. I wouldn't mind having one of those either. But like LT7 said, upper receiver would probably fix the problems with the M16/M4.

They already have done, the LE1020.

Behold!

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

El_Vikingo: Bob_Marley, the level 70 pimp, will satisfy your needs.

Beat me to it.

I don't know why turkey is buying a 5.56 rifle to replace a 7.62 rifle, given the area it occupies. It is much more likely to be facing the kind of terrain we see in Afghanistan than CQB.

i guess they will also use the HK417 not only as DMR, it is in my eye the smarter brother of the HK416 and i would everytime choose it over the 416 just because the more of power

It doesn't look quite as sexy as the 416 but I bet you get the same bang for the buck when it comes to functionality.

Agreed. With Turkish in northern Iraq the 417 is perfect for the area.
