But is it as stealthy and quiet as a dismounted soldier with mk1 eyes?

The technology to make an unmanned vehicle is nothing new (hell even Top Gear have done it to a small extent); it's all this automated stuff that's coming in that they're mainly showing off. The main problem I see coming about is hostiles learning the sensor/camera locations, targetting those directly then running off with the vehicle's weaponary.

What sort of drive-by-wire limitations are they gonna start putting on these? I'm sure one of these waking up in the middle of the night in base after having it's control system hacked could cause quite a bit of trouble...

Nothing is as stealthy as a squaddie sporting his mkI's (except maybe a ghurka, but nothing is as stealthy as those...), but these are American inventions, and American strategy would usually seem to be shock and awe followed by sustaining hostile fire long enough for the big guns to be brought in.

Since I'd imagine these are a lot smaller target and a fair bit cheaper than a Bradley/etc ten I can see them having a good role to play in infantry support.

-EDIT-

Here's another thought; even the best weapon jams at times and often simply recocking won't free it up. Without someone in there to clear it, how would these systems cope?

Very good point there sir. Well assuming how they deal with fallen comrades in Crysis is known to you, there is your answer... in a manner of speaking. Possibly a Paveway-solution to a jamming problem :P
