Exclamation Military exoskeleton, now with arms!

Doesn't show up on search so I'm assuming this is still new to the forum...

The beginning of Spartan program?

Ok, not quite. Maybe it's more like the Caterpillar Power Loaders J-5000 from the Aliens movie.

As of now, the protection aspect of it is still lacking. But that's not what their focus is right now. IMHO, it'd be great for logistic operations such as loading and unloading supplies, Mounting missles onto jets, or loading heavy artillery shells. Where the task requires both raw strength and human dexterity.

Now discuss.

And in today's news....Soldiers are now being issued Mk82 500lb bombs as a replacement for their old hand grenades. More on this story tonight at 11.

That's insane, although I think this would be more useful for logistics right now.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

nice post danshyu

I think it has more usefulness on a military base, aircraft carrier, or in logistics to go places a fork-lift truck cannot. Anywhere deployed will always just result in the "run out of batteries" so its worse than useless syndrome. Here's hoping that future tech will run on biological energy generated from the person wearing the suit, or as a result of the motion of the equipment. Nanotech ftw.

Increasingly though i predict that if people are loading missiles on aircraft, diplomatically they have lost the best resolution to the situation. At that point its the best training that is more useful than the best prototype. I haven't heard of an artilleryman who can't load another shell into his 105mm to help his mates because he's a bit tired. I think exosceletons will be useful in time, but only be accepted when its no more cumbersome than bodyarmour.

If i was investing money in new technology i would say this kind of cultural training might well do a lot more than a man powered fork lift.

Hm, I don't know. I'm sure that being able to keep on moving heavy equipment without tiring is a useful thing Also, if they manage to build it into the suits they showed, I'm pretty sure that wearing something like that is going to help with moving ammunition and heavy weaponry, and maybe recoil too?

Do you have a super handsome mate? (hugs and kisses KP)

I smell a Terminator cooking. *... hmm I didn't know the title had Terminator in it*

But that suit does look like it can provide alot of need help lugging shit around. Maybe it can help the Army kick some of those Haliburton contractor out and replace them with 1 of those and equal the same proficentcy(exagration).

I think i said a few things about that.. moving heavy stuff etc.. i.e. might be used by "engineers" bridge building perhaps.

If you watch the vid, the soldier is pictured holding his weapon with his hands, its a load carrier primarily, not a recoil dampener. Sure i'm sure we will see "Frame-mounted" machineguns, heavyweaponry eventually. But its not wise firing a sustained firing weapon standing no matter how well armoured you are.
