surely the barrels would not be on any model we do. If it is any thing like the T80 they would be dropped right a the start of any battle.

The barrels are part of the kit that comes part and parcel of the tank and are almost permanently fitted.

Just for interest the fuel consumption is x country at average speed of 25kph-6.1 L/km, on road at average speed of 40 kph- 3.4 L/km. Thats the main engine, the Generator Unit Engine uses a bit less, GUE-4.5 L/km. If your car used that much youd seriously consider LPG!!!

Just for the record, diesel will explode. While it's not as explosive or flammable as gasoline, it's like any other fuel: If you ignite it in a closed space, it will go up. A hit from a tank round or rpg could make it go boom.

In any case, I can't imagine that having the rear of your tank covered in flaming diesel is very good for the tank, so it seems like the tankers would take them off unless absolutely necessary, especially in an urban environment.

fuel drums dont explode in massive fireballs like the movies. especially diesel. and even if it did, the tank is well armoured enough to take a bit of fire.

Diesel won't explode in big fireballs?

Like this
or this
or with tracers

I never said that it would cause a catastrophic kill on the tank, it's unlikely that it would, but it would be very bad to have exploding or burning fuel covering your tank.

As Darkpowder said, take Hussars word for it. I think his name and signature may give a subtle hint as to what he does for a living!!!!
