Default JASDF's upcoming stealth fighter O.o

Alarmed by new developments in fighter aircraft technology displayed by traditional adversaries China and Russia, JASDF (Japan Air Self-Defense Forces) planners have been attempting to acquire the American F-22 Raptor fighter to replace their current F-15 Eagles. The F-22 is packed with the latest avionic and stealth technology but its high tech features have the Pentagon concerned about security leaks. Even though the United States would lose out financially by not selling Japan the F-22, security issues are front & center these days and Japan is now looking to its own aircraft designers to provide a home-grown solution.

Whilst the shell may resemble the existing US fighter. It will be a whole different game inside the craft.

How many of you know what a Challenger 2 tank looks like? Now, how many of you know what the insides of it look like? Because there are no photos brought back from Bovington to show you as the insides of both the tank and the simulator machines are barred from publication.

For all we know, that fighter there could have sprockets, chain and pedals in it to power it along. The japanese now need to come up with weight balancing, material strengths/flexibility and a whole lot of other things that mean having a head start on a frame shape might not be a benefit to them at all.

Was the F22 airframe designed around what was to go inside it? or the other way round?

Well, we did sell them F15s, and the license to the F16 which they then turned into the F2, so I don't see the problem in selling a couple of F22s. There are already some based in Kadena AFB, if I recall correctly.

It would be a nice bonus to the US economy if we did sell them a couple F-22's.

I have no doubt that the Japanese will have no problem equalling if not surpassing the the American design and I would worry more about leaks from America than from Japan.
