G36

I wanted to make a VS thread but read in the forum rules that it was forbidden so I decided to only put half of my original question in.

I have recently aquired an interest in this rifle and would like to know how it performs. On-line I couldn't find very much info, even though, I thought, the rifle was very popular. Anyone had any experience with it? I'm interested in its effective range (I heard between 200 and 800 m. Not very helpful...) and performance in general.

P.S. Of course if you had a chance to compare it with other rifles, I wouldn't mind a professional comparison as long as it doesn't violate any rules.

Unless you're LE or military, good luck getting a G36.

You could, however, get an SL8-6, and then get a G36 "conversion kit". Which is what I want to do, assuming I ever get enough money to buy the SL8, much less the kit. Damn you tuition and gas, damn you to hell.

Sorry, that i use this read, but i didn't want to open a new thread, so i post here.

I'm not sure, but will there 100% a G36 in this game?

If there will a one, i would have a good Idea, maybe someone posted it ago...

On the G36, there is a HKV

You can use the scope (bottom) or the reddot (top). Would it be possible, to code it, that you can use both?

One way would be, that the G36 had 4 firemodes; SemiReddot, FullReddot, SemiScope, FullScope.
The second way would be, that you have 2x the G36. One with the reddot and one with the scope. But there must have the same ammunation, that means, if you, if you shoot with one these G36, both should have the same ammunation in magazine.

I think, both ways aren't easy to code, but what are you thinking?

I think and hope that they will balance it by giving the ironsighted soldiers the red dot and the scoped soldiers the scope.

No

Mag-link like the LMGS, both red dot sight and scope will be used. That was the plan, but it could change cause the Devs are the ones who give it the okay to be in PR.

Its an AR-18 with more plastic, less metal and "HK" stamped on it.

As such its a reasonably light weapon with good relaibilty, respectable accuracy and in general an all round capable 5.56mm military rifle. Its not, as much as the H&K marketing department would like you to believe it is (along with the rest of thier products) the small arms equivelant of blowjobs and pudding all round but you could do alot worse.

Being a 5.56x45mm chambered rifle maximum effective range is likely to be around 600m, with a practical range of around 300-400m.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

Many thanks to the Forum's no.1 hottie for the sig pretties.

What's the difference between G36E and G36V?
Only letter change for marketing purposes or what?

Partly, G36V is just the new name for G36E. Both are names for a G36 with different sights (1,5x only; 1,5x+Reflex; 3x only or a Picantinny Rail).

Ontopic, Bob already pretty much nailed it. It's a good, high-quality assault rifle, but by no means a revolution.

Still, It'd probably my weapon of choice for going int battle

Re: G36

Seeing as the post has been revived and not shut down for waking a zombie, I guess it's cool to post some opinion.

I personally found the G-36 to be a decent weapon. Accuracy wasn't bad, operation was easy, and the weapons I dealt with had only 2-3 malfunctions over a few months period to include a lot of automatic fire. In general though, it had the "feel" of some of the newer HK weapons, which to me feel a little too light and "plasticy" for my tastes. I love HK, don't get me wrong, but this isn't a weapon I would purchase on my own. I prefer AR variants myself, although DSA is making some pretty tempting weapons at the moment using the FAL/L1A1 base. For civilian ownership, the 7.62mm with some tricked-out paintjobs appears a smoother choice.

As stated, the G-36 is not available to civilians unless you purchase one with a Class 3 license or get a transfer. Transfers can take on average of 6-9 months, and many weapons of that style are dangling around $10-$15k. You can get some gimped Class 2/3 conversion job, pay the Form 4, and go from there. But I'm no fan of conversions, so it's a matter of personal taste. I have seen some nice HK-53's going for around $8k lately in pretty good shape, might be a better alternative until your wallet can support the G-36?

One of these days I'll be able to save up the $26k for an M249 NIB, at least it's a worthy goal to aim for.

Regarding the optics mentioned, is it actually possible to give a weapon multiple sighting methods? This could be applied to multi-optics like the one discussed here, as well as zoom-capable optics and binos. I doubt it's possible, but the question did spark my own curiousity.

Re: G36

One things I've never understood about the G36; why was it designed with unique magazines? The majority of new guns in 5.56 work with STANAG mags to simplify logistics and, in an emergency, allow mags to be shared between allied troops (say at a joint base). I know there are some problems with the US-made STANAGs, but the H&K upgraded one is a superb little mag. Is there something unique about the workings of the G36 magazine, or is it simply a case of "We want our own"?
