I was just wondering what the reasoning behind the differences between the american and british helmets is?
![]() ![]() p.s. apologies if this has been asked (i searched) /is deemed so pedantic that you'd prefer to boil yourself in a vat of nitric acid rather than answer- i'm just curious |

I've wondered that too. I can answer why Japanese helmets differ, but not any others.

Japanese Type 88:
![]() ![]() Now having tried on a replica American M88 helmet, whilst shouldering a replica of a Japanese rifle, I found the "ear protectors" (as I call them), would hit the stock, and push the brim of the helmet down, blocking my view. The Type 88's "ear protectors" are much more low profile. Now having a replica Type 88, the "ear protectors" don't bump into anything. The Type 88 is also more rounded, as opposed to the M88's oblong shape. |

Oh yeah, I think so. It's way too small to be on that gun for real.
