7.62 v 5.56
i hear alot about American and brit soldiers complain about the stopping power of the 5.56. Do you think the US and UK should adopt a 7.62 rifle ?
personally i think we should adopt a 7.62 but i think the G3 is to long , some 1 i know used the SLR in Falklands and he said it was heavy, so i assume the G3 is as well, and the AK is just to inaccurate to be used IMO , tho there may be models which are of high standard (any one know 1?) is there a small (the size of SA80/m4) rifle that fires 7.62 ? and is accurate ? discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both please , and keep it clean i want a real good debate !!! EDIT: just noticed in rules "there will be no Vs threads" hope this is ok tho , should cause to many arguments |

No.... 7.62 has major disadvantages especially at long rage... there is a rifle under development that is a 6.8 caliber which is kinda in between. Has great stopping power but doesn't lack in accuracy.

7.62 what? There are many rounds in 7.62.
BTW shot placement > larger bore diameter. Yea, it's kinda bad when a company does not even fully back up their new round anymore. (Remington) |

You've got long and short versions of 7.62.. an AR shouldn't use the long version simply because of the large kick it would have, im no gun expert, but the ak fires a short version of the 7.62, and isn't accurate past say 400 meters. although the long can probably reach out to 700 and 800 (correct me if im wrong)

D_Lamz, the Nagant uses the x54R round.
Gazz, the AK uses the x39, and our DMR the M14 uses the x51. |
