Israeli Combat Robot

JERUSALEM — An Israeli defense firm (Elbit) on Thursday, March 08, 2007 unveiled a portable robot billed as being capable of entering most combat zones alone and engaging enemies with an onboard armory that includes a machine-pistol and grenades.

Would love to see these in PR as it is set in the future (2012?) and Israel is going to be using these babies this year against our own insurgents.

But really, I wonder what countermeasures are available against that robot.
What happens if the enemy jams the freq that the machine recieves its' orders on ?

Probably right... But - if they don't see it and it sees them first, then they die and the Tyco RC piece of crap operator will be the one laughing.

I'm pretty sure there are no known countermeasures (by the insurgents) for its RC frequencies. I say this because Israeli UAVs have not been taken down that way.
And who knows - maybe MKII will only have one order without any RC control - shoot anyone in the area without the right RFID... Just imagine dropping a truckload of the little buggers in an area you want purged.

lol the insurgents could just go buy a Rc car themselves, put on the right channel and take control! If you ever tryed it you should know that you can do it that way

but considering they are insurgents they will probably not have the tech to do it in thier stores.. anyways it is probably not working like that (with somethign you can buy in a supermarket) and the idea of programming them to shoot anyone on sight and then pull your troops back and airdrop the robots in enemy teritory sounds like a good idea

Not if the Israeli's were using encrypted frequency hopping communications.

They can and will adapt to our tactics.
Fighting the Americans is a great way to field test new weapons as I'm sure the Iranians are already doing.
I agree though that the insurgents are not likely to be able to field any effective countermeasures.
But they could steal a page from your playbook and put bombs on RC cars and send them at checkpoints.
I would think it would be hard to hit a 1' long car doing 30mph.

The very second they try that, all checkpoints will JAM such signals for a 100m radius. Not a problem - and so what if civie cellphones etc don't work...
