Bottom of page (in Chinese, but you don't need to understand what they're saying).

It really is l33t in real life, although not the way DICE put it.

Looks like an F-16 mixed with a eurofighter or saab griphon.

Nothing is "l33t" until it's combat tested, I don't think this has been in combat.

It's based on the Israeli Lavi, which in turn, is based on the F16I. The nose is derived from the Typhoon I think.

The main article said "it was apparent that the J-10 has the potential of becoming one of the most significant fighters in the next few decades", so that has to mean something right? They won't say that for no reason.

I'm sure it will be a capable machine, it's got decades to prove it's worth. It's definitely not stealthy, which is the way modern western designs are going. You can't shoot it if you can't see it. China/Russia go for the cheaper way of just giving it power and maneuverability, where as western is about stand off range, getting close enough to fire without being detected launching and staying out of the threat area of the target.

i doubt china is yet on par with europe and america if it comes to aviation
also, note that the airplane only got one engine, something that is not very popular for fighters (was/is a big point of criticism about the f-35)

F16s only have 1 engine and they are some of the best fighters around. J-10s have pretty much the same role. Also, stealth is just the "in" thing right now, there are other methods to improve combat capability, or get an advantage over your opponent so you don't need better combat capability.

It doesn't have a lot of lift since it landed at high speed and had to use a parachute to come to a halt.

the f-16 lost in a competitiv bidding to the f-15, which is a two-engine plane.
it was only used that much since it was a lot cheaper - kinda like the f-22 (two-seater) will be used much less than the cheaper f-35.
stealth is a very important aspect in todays aviation, and basically, to outweight or at least balance stealth the j-10 would need (in comparison to the f-22) some knd of uber-radar, which the airplane doesnt appear to have.
also, it is not as fast as other modern fighters)
still, it´s basically the first fighter china ever produced themselves - but they still have a long way to go, seeing as how many technolgies had to be "borrowed" from other states (russia,israel,...)

Ok, what does the US Armed Forces rely on in combat the most? Electronics right? I'm sure you've heard of the satellite blinding technology that China possesses now, as well as blinding technology for any detection device, so if US satellites are down, or even if the US planes' electronics are disabled even for a minute, that could mean big trouble for the planes in the field, stealth or no stealth. There would have to be cooperation from ground stations. And I'm willing to bet that's not the only trick the PLA has up its sleeve.
