The black ice looks like it would be great at roadblocks and checkpoints to limit the ability of people to go around them or leave the road to turn around and escape.
It also looks like it would be great in the hands of an adolescent troublemaker. ( what I wouldn't have given for that stuff in HS ) |

Its spray on plastic that has the properties of black-ice, i.e. you spray the grip stuff on your army boots and the tangos fall over and you dont.
Same goes for the tyres of your hummer. The reverse-agent would be some sort of solvent (biodegradable) that stops the local populations cars/shoppers in the store etc from slipping over after the op. |

I want a personal pain ray.
Man in 20 years that kind of stuff will be the norm for police i bet. reminds me of the death ray the japs tried to develop in ww2. instead of developing radar with radio waves, they tried to develop a death ray lol |

Saw that pain ray on the news. Very clever, and very scary stuff.
I would however, be afraid of the seeming indiscriminateness of the weapon. How tight is the beam? Also, if it only penetrates 1/64th of an inch past the human skin, surely all the badguy has to do is stand beind a brick wall. Or a few sheets of paper, for that matter. |

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

The idea is they're making black ice that you can put anywhere, and obviously an "antidote" as well, so soldiers can still walk on it. I can tell you from the snow we've had recently, black-ice is going to be really effective if they can spread it to the enemy.
The pain ray sounds downright nasty, but it'll work I'm sure. |

I heard from a couple of Airborne guys that the pain ray really isn't that good. All though it hurts, it can be overcome. Generally insurgents have balls of steel anyway.
