Bits and bobs.

I hear about things such as forward assist and don't know what they mean so this thread is for those that don't know what parts are and want to love questions.

So mine what does forward assist do and what does a match weight on a USP do??.

On the right side of the weapon, just behind the ejection port:

The propose of the foward asset is to slam the bolt foward incase it fails to completely cycle when firing. You just hit that bad boy with the palm of your hand.

I have a question too.
Why don't modern tanks have a muzzle brake ?

That's a very good question and I've never even thought of it until you mentioned it. Have you tried googling anything on it?

I'd appreciate it if you guys added stuff like "Forward Assist" to the Glossary, if you know about it. Chances are if one person doesn't know what one is, then more won't either, so adding it to the glossary would be good.

EDIT: A match weight on a USP, I believe is for professional shooters, not military. The weight balances the weapon for target shooting, something a soldier doesn't need/want.

Though there is one in the L85 (due to it being so biased toward the rear, wieght wise)

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

The muzzle brake was needed to reduce the recoil, but modern tank canons don't have it anymore, because shooting Sabot causes problems in combination with it.
