Plan for cloaking device unveiled
US and British scientists are developing a cloaking device which would bend the visible wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum around an object, making it invisible. Seems that cloaking devices aren't too far off in the future.

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.

This is not possible. Bending light is not possible. Only reflecting it. Unless they've proved Einstein wrong. Also, even if this does work, I bet whatever you see through the cloaking device would be distorted in some way, as in everything inside happens slower, and would possibly appear farther and dimmer.

this only works on radar and TV - it doesnt work when you look at it with ur own eyes

As of right now they are bending the microwaves around the material similar to how a stream bends around a rock but then downstream the stream looks the same. What they are saying is they can bend light waves in the same way.

I read an artilcle in BBC focus about 3 months ago on the same thing BUT using a completely different method - neither articles appears to mention the other.
Invisiblity is brutal possible. All present methods and theories work on guiding light around an object and getting to go strait out, on the other side of the object. The method, which has worked on a very small scale, relies on nano technology therefore is still has far bit of developement to go, till it works on a large scale well. Using nano tech, thing hair like things are create that are the same wavelength of light and a object is covered in these. I dont understand any more realy, but i think the artilce (BBC focus) mentioned that it would only work with flat objects and as usal, their example was, making a whole bunch of MTB's invisible, with only a dust cloud to be visible. Quite crzy actaully, by the end of this century there will be many method of making you less visible, some more so that others. Each with there advantages in powerconsumption, wieght and cost. WHAT makes me shudder is the thought of covering huge buidlings in such, so the sky line is clear - defeats the whole point of architecture, living twisted sort of lie AND then you factor in, massive increase in light aviasion and then the numerous crashes! |

So does bending light mean they aren't far off from bending gravity?
