Sounds good!! It's too bad it will probably take 20 years before we see any of this stuff. I laughing to myself about the plans to increase the size of the military to 100,000. Good luck with that. Right now our military is losing more people than they can recruit, and they refuse to believe that we have a retention problem. People keep bringing up the idea of signing bonuses, (like offered in many other militaries around the world) but they won't even consider it. Unless its for officers of course; Pilots and Doctors. I think this announcement was just an excuse for the PM to waste some of the taxpayers money to fly to Halifax and watch a Hockey game.

A signing bonus would have made my decision easier

Hell, even just having a better military budget would probably increase the number of soldiers. Try talking to an average Canadian about their own military and they will laugh at you and say "yeah, we got a crap military force, no chance I'm ever going to consider signing up".

I used to think that as a kid.

After living around military establishments as a cadet, I feel that we have a fairly decent army for such a small country.

The F18 works fine for Canada's purposes.
Lets just say our purposes have shifted from getting into the air, to staying in the air.

Im saying some things are a waste, such as the F35s which could be better used on more transport helos or some attack helos.
Said the country with the largest airforce in the world.

We have a massive coastline that needs patrolling. If Russia ever did try anything, it would come in the form of a Bear or Backfire.

One is none. Two is one.

As an American i see this as a good thing. Because Canada has always been an ally so the more power they get the stronger an ally we will have.

Not the ones I talk to, and I have been on many large Canadian content websites or communities as they like to call it and never really met a Canadian that diddn't say the Canadian Forces rocked, by I also never met a Canadian that diddn't crack jokes at its own military.

Ever since the UN said Canada has the best Military Training in the world. I think Canadians got a different view on there military. Went from those picture jokes of Canadian Forces members playing around in shopping carts with a machine gun on it stating it was the CF Vehicles to general respect for the CF.

Although all in all they're not bad. I'd rather see Canada find a suitable attack chopper (Cobra would be a nice fit) rather than get new F35s. The F18 works fine for Canada's purposes. Will it be the F35A or B?
And how can we been taken seriously if we rely on United States for defend us ? huh ? how we gonna defend our interest infront of international community ? we are one of the most richest nation whit the smallest Army

What interests ? Can't say you have any unruly neighbors (because yes they did forgive you for burning the Whit House. Well more like forgotten )
And I have yet to read in the news about Canadian interests in the world needing anything more then the local police
