HR 1955 PASSED... and all I got was this lousy trip to Gitmo

I am now a domestic terrorist, thanks to congress.

Here's the bill and all information regarding it:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1955

Quote:
The term 'homegrown terrorism' means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual born, raised, or based and operating primarily within the United States ... to intimidate or coerce the United States government, the civillian population of the United States, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of a political or social objective
Essentially, any political protest made by any one in the US can now be described as terrorism, considering the broad definition one may assign the word 'force'.

Interpreting "force" as anything broader than actual physical force would almost certainly violate the first amendment. I do not want to be the plaintiff who has to see this struck down by the supreme court. Its apparently quite hard to see them when you're in Guantanamo.

heh and i thought germany tipped it with its six mothn internet&telecommunications data retention (though only when and with whom, no actual data).

anyways, iīm not shure, but canīt you issue kind of a constitutional complaint at the supreme court in the states?
the aforementioned data rentention for example already got "complainted about".
basically, you (anybody with german citizenship) can issue a constitutional complaint in germany (for free) if he feels that his basic rights are harmed or the constitution broken.
if the federal constitutional court, our highest court in germany, accepts it, he will see wether the complaint is justified and indeed the constitution broken and therefore make the law illegal and effectless, or he will say that itīs all right and the constitution is not broken and things go their way.
