New Jersey abolishes death penalty

so New Jersey just abolished the death penalty. do you think this is a good thing?

Dont think its good or bad. If thats how they feel thats how they feel.

I do believe that some crimes are so heinous that the only possible penalty is death, but thats in extreme cases. Generally im more of a fan of poppin the guy in a 4x4 cell for life with his cellmates "Bubba" and "Tiny"

I personally believe that a long life without freedom is a punishment worse than death, but that's just me. But put on Céline Dion/Linkin Park/Limp Bizkit/Meat Loaf/Avril Lavigne/PussyCat Dolls (pick what you find to be worst) 24/7...now that's cruel.

As a Jersey boy, I will say that I'm in favor of this. The way the death penalty is applied is not helpful to our society, and I would much rather lock someone up for 50 or 60 years, and have some chance for good in their life, than kill them.

I do believe that some people are too dangerous to live, but the great majority of inmates on death row are not those kind of people.

New Jersey abolished the death penalty??? Dammit!! Now what am I gonna do on vacation this year. Wonder if Texas has any planned for this summer?

I support the death penalty. It is capital punishment, not a deterrent to crime. Letting a person live on a life sentence will just cost tax payers money.

So, what's the value on human life?

Say you could push a button, kill a faceless, nameless guy you've never met or heard of, and it'd save you £100 (or $100, or €100 etc etc). Would you?
Now, push the button and it kills one guy for £1000. Would you?
Push the button to kill one guy for £10,000?
One guy for £100,000?
Ten people for £1,000?
Ten people for £10,000?

A thousand people for £100,000?
A thousand people for £1,000,000?
How much to kill a million?

Because that's what you're saying - to save YOU, the taxpayer, some money, you'll happily condone a life getting snuffed out.

So, if it were you pushing the button - how much would you have to get paid?
