Water Supply in Basra now better than London?

Basra Water Supply

Thousands of Iraqi's in Basra will soon be getting access to water at the turn of the tap for the first time in 25 years, thanks in part to a Territorial Army soldier.

"There is now a much more robust water network in the Basra district. In 2003, 95% of the water was lost through leaks, which have now dropped to 60%. This is better than London."

Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Douglas Smith, 506 Specialist Team Royal Engineers (Volunteers)

Rather unacclaimed this work, but good to see this kind of work making differences to the ordianry people in this area.

Good to hear that there is finally water for those poor people. I wish all war damage would be repaired instantly - at least to Saddam era degree.

omg so true.

The london water supply is utter shite. I swear that brixton hill is cut off every week by some burst water main.

Thats very impressive, and great to hear.

The coalition may be getting there slower than some might like, but they're getting there!

The key to modernising any weapon is covering them in glue and tossing them in a barrel of M1913 rails until they look "Modern" enough.
