"Army is ordering injured troops to go to Iraq"

Ok if this is true, which I really hope its not, this is a tiddy bit worrisome no ?

Quote:
March 11, 2007 | COLUMBUS, Ga. -- "This is not right," said Master Sgt. Ronald Jenkins, who has been ordered to Iraq even though he has a spine problem that doctors say would be damaged further by heavy Army protective gear. "This whole thing is about taking care of soldiers," he said angrily. "If you are fit to fight you are fit to fight. If you are not fit to fight, then you are not fit to fight."

As the military scrambles to pour more soldiers into Iraq, a unit of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga., is deploying troops with serious injuries and other medical problems, including GIs who doctors have said are medically unfit for battle. Some are too injured to wear their body armor, according to medical records.

On Feb. 15, Master Sgt. Jenkins and 74 other soldiers with medical conditions from the 3rd Division's 3rd Brigade were summoned to a meeting with the division surgeon and brigade surgeon. These are the men responsible for handling each soldier's "physical profile," an Army document that lists for commanders an injured soldier's physical limitations because of medical problems -- from being unable to fire a weapon to the inability to move and dive in three-to-five-second increments to avoid enemy fire. Jenkins and other soldiers claim that the division and brigade surgeons summarily downgraded soldiers' profiles, without even a medical exam, in order to deploy them to Iraq. It is a claim division officials deny. ...

And please this is about the troops, so don't go blowing your mouths out, thank you.

I think it means if you got maybe a bullet to the leg and you can still run and work fine you are staying or going back, not if you got a leg blown off.

Its called squad rushes, and it's the most basic element in maneuver warfare. One team lays down fire to suppress the enemy while the other team rushes.

I saw on Reuters that the armies top medical officer, Lt. Gen. Kevin Kiley, was ‘retired’ today over the troop care scandal. If it’s such a scandal for wounded troops coming out its not that much of a leap of logic to figure there is a high degree of probability of something screwy going on with sending troops back in, surely?

Come on, lets keep this on topic guys. This isn't about your opinion on politics or whatever.
But sending wounded troops back ? Whichever side you are on, this is going over the limit.

Yeah it is over the limit.
But given the source I would say the article is overblown and not entirely accurate but I don't care enough to research and prove that it is a limited occurrence and in most cases a mistake.
It's more than likely bureaucracy at work and for that the press is useful to expose messed up procedures and screw ups.
But it's also an attempt to bash the administration and skew the public's view.
I would like to see a more balanced approach to war news but that's never going to happen.
If you want a balanced view of what happened, then you can read book but TV is always leaning one way or the other and seems to be so full shit you can't believe anything they say.
Salon.com falls into that category.
