first picture is a British Army CP team. Means you can engage in a vehicle if you need to. Hell of a lot better than gubbing your mate with the butt of an SA80 lol when yer trying to shoot at something.

btw the handle is NOT a carrying handle it is an iron sight, never call it carrying handle, the SA80 is not a handbag, it is weapon for killing people.

I just repeating what my CPL's said to me.

I would say that that 'pistol grip' at front of SA80 is an optional attachment, I would think it might give more control.

Pffff ... its a pint straw directly included into the side of the SA80 (the end of the straw protruding just above the grip, you can barely see it on this picture as the angle is bad).

It was included in the 90s in Ireland, as British soldiers complained about staying long hours focused behind their iron sight and not being able to enjoy a good pint of lager.

Well, the iron sight runs through the CARRYING HANDLE, so give your Corporal a slap from me .

As for the grip, theres been a grip on SA80 variants for ages, SA80 Carbine -

As for the SA80 in the pic, the British Army must have found that foregrips are extremely useful, so all theyve done is mount a picatinny rail on the bottom of the SA80 and added a foregrip.

The HK53 pic doesnt suprise me, Royal Marines have been using dodgy weapons for ages :P
