Canadian troops in Afghanistan

We are sure getting in their face. I hope they realize that the afghan government could utilize poppy crops for derivatives of opiates and be a legitimate support of hospitals around the world. Plus, wouldn't all that morphine be great when getting hit by an AK? Opiates is the main cash crop there, seeing not much else makes any money at all.
Aside from that: the battle for Afghanistan is still up in the air.
The only solution that comes to mind is understanding and educating the young and women. My understanding is: these people have known nothing but war and it will take a long time to convince them were not doing a conquest on their land but a step forward in cultural growth. The key might just be the in the women.

On the other hand, to drive up with weapons cocked and not expect trouble would be insane. But its hard not to get a strange feeling that were just picking a fight over there; even though we don't fire the first shot.

heroin: Northern Afghans only export lively hood. Legalize and utilize the poppy field into something legitimate so that country has some hope. And if I have to explain opium history to you and the afghan war maybe do some research on it
Seeing how right now, imported terrorism from Iran and Pakistan and exporting it to the world isn't the best cash crop for the country.
What I'm talking about is solutions to a growing problem.

They call most attacks taliban or terrorists or insurgents or whatever, but the fact remains a lot of them are drug lords protecting their poppy crops!

I wish it was that simple. Peacekeeping and reconstruction takes a back seat now? Or is there some education needed for a struggling people. Its hard to kill fear, when in return the outcome is more fear. I would hope we have a larger part there then just to go and kill. Our army has the ability to change things over there for the future of those people. And defending yourself from an ambush is definitely being told what to kill or be killed.
What I'm asking is this: What is our role there?
Don't lose the plot, we're there to help these people not kill.

That is what i dont get, the third world could almost certain do with some more morphine. BUt i think most is made using synthetic methods by big western corperations.
They would probaly boy-cot or do something/anything to present sch a thing happening.
FACT: it is/will be impossble to prevent aphgans growing poppies - they need the money so bad and many warloads and such force people to grow them or offer extra money. A mixture of wealth and survial i think is at the heart of the poppy growing - mainly greed in our western countries, i think.

And with that as the only angle at a possible solution its hard to have hope for their future. My Grandpa, Dr. Graham used straight up heroin for the terminally ill back in Scotland before he moved here. Before his passing he asked to go out that way, but laws have changed since then, and you can't die with dignity anymore. Suffering is here to stay, change the laws so that Afghanistan can supply a freedom to all whom die in great pain. Morphine just doesn't cut it. Doctors need the good stuff and Afghanistan has it. If my kidneys were failing please give me some of the good stuff. But seriously, Its all these people have. With a few changes in export/import and drug laws this would be a viable and possible solution to this countries problems.
