Appearently the RAAF is to adopt 24 F/A-18F 2 Seat Super Hornets. Seems like a wonderful ground attack aircraft for the Aussies. That of which is to replace the F-111's which served the RAAF in the Recon and bomber role. Hopefully we'll see some Super Hornets in PR.

we had some on the ground at amberly recentlly, others are in the states for training, there will be 20 f (rhino) varients and 4 growler varients, as far as i know. the RAAF super hornets are beeing modified to carry the F-111 5000lb JDAM and its other munitions these where developed for the RAAF by boeing and are currentlly used exclusivly by the ADF.

Not to be a killjoy or anything, but i think you've mixed up 3SQN and 77SQN in that latest release.
The emblem on the ridge behind the cockpit looked to be that of 3SQN but it was combined with the tail art of 77SQN. Also the emblem in that area on the real thing is the image in the middle, and does not include the entire emblem 3SQN ![]() 77SQN ![]() 75SQN ![]() So for example if you were to do that based on 75SQN, you would only have the Magpie, nothing else on the ridge. Also the arrow is different for each squadron 77SQN ![]() 75SQN ![]() 3SQN ![]() Not the greatest images i could find, but i think they show my point rather clearly Quote:
edit: If i have necessarily dragged up this thread for nothing, i apologise in advance, and if this has already been brought up, again i'm sorry, i couldn't see any evidence in the thread, so i decided to help you out a bit.

If you want my personal opinion, this is absolute BS, because not only is the F-35 an absolute dog of a plane, but the F/A-18's it will be replacing are largely superior. The F-35's so called "stealth" is complete PR BS since it will show up on Russian made radars, but not American or European (something to do withe wavelengths of Russian vs Allied made tech) . Its fat, its slow, it only has one engine, it is a terrible air frame. And now with India in the process of acquiring T-50's, we will be underarmed in comparison, since the T-50, unlike the F-35, is not slow, is not overweight, has stealth that works and has twin engines for increased survivability. Now since Congress has killed off any chances of producing more F-22's, our best choices would lie in Eurofighter Typhoons, more Super Hornets (do NOT underestimate this bird) or something Russian, Su-30MKI, Su-35 or even T-50's. edit: Also where can i find modding tools for this, i might see if i can give this baby a crack and fix it up if it isn't too complicated to do skins.

plus half of the rhino's are growler upgradeable, so far only four are, but the option is there.
as to the f-35 being a dog, i think we should rely on the facts for now, and get a better idea of it's capability before we dismiss it whole sale. after all the F18 was initially brushed off as a failure. |
